I haven't blogged for a while and I have really missed everyone!  Life has been so busy but I found time today to take some pictures of my newly decorated chicken coop.
I wish I had taken pictures of this thing before I painted it and fixed it up.  It was a old shack I think it was a old pigeon coop.  My husband saw a vision and decided to revamp it and make it into a chicken coop for me.   It now has a huge sun roof window, 2 side windows, automatic heat lamps that turn off and on,  nesting boxes on each side for easy access to the eggs, roosting poles across the back and it is completely enclosed with chicken wire to keep any predator out.
I had it painted bright yellow, added curtains, hanging plates, vintage lanterns, vintage egg baskets and I hung all around it my collection of vintage and new farm signs.
It is completely closed in to keep out predators.
I have vintage hanging lamps
My vintage signs are also hanging inside the coop
I love this boot bird house!
I have vintage egg baskets hanging all around the back
I have roosting boxes on each side of the coop.  I can't wait till they start laying eggs!
Even the Scare Crow is dressed up in a John Deere Apron!
I bought this adorable sign from a etsy store called     She custom made this for me for the side of my coop!
Here are some of the girls pigging out around the food bowl
Tom the Turkey is getting bigger.  He calls all the shots and tells everyone what to do
This is my favorite of all the chickens.  This is Susie.  She is a White Silkie.  Well, I think its a she....at least I am hoping its a she......the other day she made a really deep chirping noise.  I am keeping my fingers crossed!!

Chicken Coop On Wheels in Boone, North Carolina

Generally these standardized designs are created of rapid grown wood - come the very first drop of rainfall they swell, leaving you either barricading a doorway that will not shut, or ripping the doorway furniture off in a vain attempt to launch the squawking occupants. The first warm day suggests the timber dries and also fractures, the really felt roofing system bubbles and also boils, and also come nightfall the hens refuse to go in. This is not because of their dissatisfaction at the decline of their as soon as eye-catching building yet because the hovel is currently a place for, as well as most likely crawling with, the fowl keeper's nemesis, red mite. Add that it claimed on the blurb that it would match four large chickens when that equipping thickness was based on the Circle Line at 5pm on a Friday, and exactly what are you left with? A few joints and also some kindling. A decent coop for thee to four birds need to cost you in the region of ₤ 300 though this could rely on whether you choose for a cost-free standing house or one with a run attached. Thinking you are ranging your birds in a large space and the pop hole door allows sufficient for the breed you keep, after that the major needs of housing come down to three points which will certainly specify the variety of birds your home will hold; perches, nest boxes and also air flow. Most types of chicken will certainly perch when they go to roost during the night, this perch ought to preferably be 5-8cm broad with smoothed off sides so the foot rests comfortably on it. The perch should be higher than the nest box access as chickens will certainly also naturally try to find the highest point to perch. A perch lower than that will certainly have the birds roosting in the nest box overnight (which is by the way when they produce one of the most poo) bring about stained eggs the list below day. They shouldn't nevertheless be so high off the floor of the house that leg injuries might happen when the bird gets down in the morning. Chickens need concerning 20cm of perch each (in small types this is obviously much less), plus if greater than one perch is mounted in the house they ought to be more than 30cm apart. They will hunker up with their neighbors but are not that keen on roosting with a beak in the bloomers of the bird in front. Preferably the house must have a the very least one nest box for every single 3 birds and these ought to be off the ground and in the darkest area of the house. Your house must have appropriate air flow: without it then condensation will accumulate every night, also in the chilliest of climate. Realize, ventilation works on the principle of warm and comfortable air leaving via a high void drawing cooler air in from a lower gap - it's not a set of openings on other wall surfaces of your home and at the very same level, this is what's referred to as a draft. If you have a house with a run affixed after that the points above are still true, yet you must additionally think about the run dimension. The EU optimum lawful equipping thickness for a cost-free array bird is (as well as allow's face it, one of the inspirations for keeping some chickens in the house is perhaps enhanced or better welfare) 2,500 birds per hectare, that's maximum one bird per 4m settled. Take a close take a look at a few of the deal houses - it could well be the house has the right perches, appropriate ventilation and also adequate nest boxes for a sensible number of birds, but will each of the chickens have anything greater than an A4 sized piece of ground to invest the day on? Therefore as the saying goes, "you get what you spend for". You could believe you've got hold of a bargain, yet you and your flock might rue the day you did. Acquisition the ideal house as well as it will certainly last for a few years, if not longer offered the appropriate therapy. In the long run your fowl and also your chicken maintaining encounter will be a lot the better for it.
